The Pivot Project: Crowdsourcing Solutions to COVID-19 Problems

The overwhelming implications of COVID-19 have defined a generation, but despite the hardships Americans are facing today, it’s shown us that social media is a momentous tool for building awareness & delivering aid to those in need. The Pivot Project, co-founded by our Advisory Board member, Cynthia Johnson, is set to do just that: utilize digital content & social media to crowdsource solutions to COVID-19’s problems – at a mass scale.

The Millennium Alliance is honored to announce a partnership with Pivot Project to bring awareness to social causes that are actively seeking solutions. So you can stay in the know, we will regularly share success stories & opportunities on our social media & Digital Diary. We’re also excited to share that pretty soon, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with Pivot Project’s team at our virtual assemblies to learn how your organization can get involved.

Cynthia Johnson adds, “Once quarantines started being implemented in the beginning of the pandemic, Nick Peacock-Smith (Millennium Alliance Alumni) and I connected over our frustration with feeling helpless as the world seemingly fell apart,” said Cynthia. “Over a short conversation, we discovered that we weren’t helpless and we weren’t alone in how we felt. Many people in our networks are helpers. We believe and have repeatedly been proven right that well-connected, well-intentioned people love to provide solutions and could if they clearly understood the problems. This realization was our inspiration to launch the Pivot Project, to make an impact and help as many people as we can. This partnership with Millennium Alliance is an obvious fit for creating real-time solution-center collaboration with real leaders who care about making a long-lasting impact. Together is how we will make a difference in the lives impacted by COVID-19. We look forward to the outcomes these conversations create.”

We asked Cynthia, “What is the value of companies getting involved during this time?”

“The value for companies getting involved during this time is the collaboration between brands, and brands and communities. We also understand that marketing and advertising is highly sensitive and a bit difficult at this time. Pivot Projects open the door for meaningful and impactful campaigns that are timely, helpful, and demonstrate positive brand sentiment.”

How Does The Pivot Project Work?

When creating the concept for Pivot Project, Cynthia & her team recognized that there were already many organizations that were helping out and many initiatives that already exist. They asked themselves, “How can we help in a way that provides value and doesn’t dilute or duplicate current efforts?” That’s when they realized a common theme among many of the existing initiatives; they needed more reach and awareness.

How can we help people and organizations find solutions? The Pivot Project’s answer: to create a centralized location for state and federal resources, vetted non-profit organizations, public initiatives, and develop a team of volunteer media partners, brands, influencers, and writers to help deliver the additional reach.

About John Mattison

John began his medical career at UC San Diego and Scripps Clinic, where he practiced in many clinical settings including primary care, critical care, preventive medicine, hyperbaric medicine, trauma and helicopter medicine, and held several directorships while at Scripps Clinic, including Quality, Utilization, and Critical Care. He joined Kaiser Permanente in 1989, and was appointed as Assistant Medical Director and Chief Medical Information Officer in 1992.

John’s interest in systems design began as a marine biologist when he created several software applications to model population behavior. He wrote his first electronic health record in 1984 and used fully automated medical records in his practice until the time he began a full-time commitment to healthcare informatics. He has built, designed, or implemented seven different EHR systems, most recently KP HealthConnect. His team helped build and deploy the first highly scalable version of this system, which today stands as the largest private sector implementation of an EHR in the US. John was director of the largest regional deployment, encompassing 5,000 physicians, 140 clinics, 13 hospitals, and 2.3 million members, but he is quick to identify his many colleagues within KP who have provided the support, the resources, and the skills necessary for such a monumental achievement. He has actively shaped a culture of extremely rapid issue escalation and resolution that became the single most critical success factor for this large scale and pioneering project.

He was also one of the founding members of the IMIA Workgroup on Organizational Aspects of Informatics, which focuses on the cultural change management required to successfully transform cultures with new technology. His team included many world class project managers who completed the project more than a year ahead of schedule and nearly $100 million under budget. KP has been recognized as the uncontested leader for both outpatient and inpatient systems, leading the country for hospitals awarded with the top HIMSS level 7 designation. In 2011, 6 of the hospitals in SCAL region, and 12 KP hospitals nationally were recognized among the top 118 “Most Connected Hospitals” by US News and World Report. KPHC also includes the largest and most active use of Personal Health Records (PHRs) in the nation. With over 60% of their eligible members using the PHR portal, they exchange over 25,000 secure emails daily with their patients. Whether it’s US News & World Report, JD Powers, or National Council on Quality Assurance, Kaiser Permanente tops nearly every third party assessment for quality of care.

John has co-chaired the National KP IT Infrastructure Governance for the past four years, and he also chaired the Inter-Regional Business Governance Group since its inception. In addition, he chairs the national governance oversight of Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, and Data Center Strategy. He continues his active participation on National HIT Strategy, Security Council, Care Delivery, and Risk Management.

Millennium’s Inaugural Virtual Assembly A Smashing Success

NEW YORK – July 7, 2020 – The Millennium Alliance, an invitation-only organization for Senior-Level Executives and Business Transformers, is excited to announce that its inaugural virtual assembly which took place recently on June 23-24 for IT & data leaders focused on transforming the digital enterprise, was a huge hit with participating partners and members. Similar to their onsite assemblies, the virtual program delivered executives in attendance with exclusive access to a series of keynote presentations, interactive workshops, 1 to 1 meetings, and intimate networking opportunities, to ensure they were each given the same one-of-a-kind experience that Millennium has built its reputation on.

“To say that there has been a lot of change in the world these past few months is a big understatement. Families, business of all sizes, and people in general have experienced a situation never ever thought possible and to some degree, everyone is at least a little scared. With that said, one of the bright spots for the team at Millennium over this time period was watching our first ever multi-day virtual Assembly take place at the end of June where upon completion, we received such positive feedback from our clients and members. In a good economy, businesses need access to decision makers to ensure they are in the conversation among their competition. In a down economy those conversations are even harder to have which is why they are more important than ever. Millennium’s community, platform, and continual strive for greatness has always been an effective way to meet the right people and make things happen. Knowing we can be there and be just as effective for our clients when things are tough for them, makes it all the more worth it.” – Alex Sobol, Co-Founder & Managing Partner, The Millennium Alliance

While The Millennium Alliance remains optimistic and hopeful that it will be in a position to safely host physical assemblies again in the near future, its immediate concern is to run the remainder of their programs through October virtually in order to arm the Millennium community to face their greatest challenges head-on while the need for organizations to digitally transform their businesses has never been more paramount. The stakes have never been higher for leaders to innovate and create change within their organizations. This is largely why Millennium has heavily invested in creating a powerful virtual platform for its partners and members to network, problem-solve and explore exclusive insights on how the industry is shifting. To stay up to speed with Millennium’s upcoming virtual programs, check out their growing calendar of assemblies

Healthcare Provider Innovation Starts Here

Digital Transformation involves ongoing exploration by today’s leaders, and our best advice is to not trek the journey alone. Our Healthcare Provider Transformation Assembly coming this April in Atlanta is set to be an inspiring event featuring our Keynote Speaker Ronald Paulus, President and CEO at RAPMD Strategic Advisors.

We know what you’re thinking…

This isn’t Your Run-of-the-Mill Conference or Summit.

Truthfully, we really aren’t a fan of those. Our Founders, like many C-Suite executives today, became disillusioned by the slew of retail conferences, summits, and events on the market today that promised “world-class networking” opportunities with leading industry decision-makers. In reality, they found that these events had antiquated discussion topics presented in an impersonal format, and quite frankly, it seemed like just about anyone could attend the event.

What Makes a Millennium Assembly Different?

We’re dedicated to creating the greatest think tank of executives from some of the most prominent companies today. Our invite-only events consist of 55 carefully selected leaders holding C-Suite, EVP, and SVP positions from Fortune 500 companies.

These attendees are provided the opportunity to intimately connect in workshops & roundtables with fewer than 25 people, with interactive networking opportunities at our cocktail hour and Gala Keynote Dinner and personalized 1:1 meetings. This is an experience like no other, all taking place at some of the most beautiful hotel and resort venues in the country.

We’re serious about executive education. Our Assembly Agendas are data-driven and curated from our industry-expert Advisory Board, a group of 26 industry movers and shakers with a proven record of digitally transforming organizations from the ground-up. The prevailing topics and trends discussed at this assembly will cover the most poignant challenges affecting leaders today.

The Millennium Alliance’s goal is to change the way leaders look at executive education, and you won’t find this level of content, discussion, and networking anywhere else. We’re on the journey to digitally transform the healthcare provider industry with you.
